3v3 Basketball at its Finest

3v3 basketball has never been played like this before as the BIG3 got it covered with some professional 3v3 basketball at its finest. As the BIG3 is in the middle of their second season, it really caught on during their inaugural season last year. A quick overview of the BIG3 is a 10-week summer basketball league for retired and former NBA vets who still have love and passion for the game with that old-school hard nose playground style in a half court setting. It is also the first professional basketball league with a 4-point shot.

The league came about when rapper Ice Cube had the idea for retired players who still had that urge to play once their career was over in the NBA. When the league was first announced NBA vets like Allen Iverson, Stephen Jackson, Chauncey Billups, and Kenyon Martin was all in as the opportunity came about. Hall of Famers like Gary Payton, Dr. J, Rick Barry jumped on the opportunity as well to coach in the league. So, it is really a good thing to see former vets and legends all under the same roof, its kind of generational.

The rules of the BIG3 are: the first team to 50 pts wins (must win by 2), 14-second shot clock, hand checking, if one part of a player's foot is in the 4pt circle it results as a 4-pointer, 1 free throw for 2 points,  if a player get fouled at the 3pt line then the player shoots from the 3pt line for 3pts and the same rule goes for the 4 pointers, and clearing the ball at the 3pt line. The BIG3 consists of 8 teams where every team can have 7 players.

Last season Trilogy went undefeated with the help of their captain Kenyon Martin and co-cap Al Harrington to capture the first BIG3 championship as they defeated the 3 Headed Monsters in Las Vegas. This game was on the same day as the highly-anticipated Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor fight, so who wouldn't want to spend a big weekend like that?

This season is better than ever as some new familiar names joined the league. Some of those names are Glen "Big Baby" Davis, Nate Robinson, Amar'e Stoudemire, and etc. Season 2 has gotten even more competitive as NBA players like this joined the league. BIG3 games air on Fox Sports 1 on Fridays at 7pm and this week their are in Toronto. The BIG3 is truly something special for basketball fans who want to see that old-school style of play and is something that no one would want to miss. The BIG3 is changing the game.
