Chainsaw Man Ep.1 Review
Chainsaw Man premiered this week and it's a horror anime. Episode 1 is the introductory to the series which follows a boy named Denji who has nothing but his dog Pochita who is a devil. Denji does plenty of jobs, but he knows that devil hunting pays the best as well. Now, Denji owes a lot of yen to pay off his father's debt and his dad wants nothing to do with him except get the money for his father. Denji explained that he always dreamed of living a normal life. Here's where things get interesting, his father says there's another job, but it wasn't, it was a devil waiting on him called the "Zombie Devil". There was an attack on Denji and once it knew was it was, he tried to escape but ultimately it cost him. In the mist of all this we get the backstory of Denji and that he's been going through this with his father as a child as well in a flashback. Plus, he meets Pochita too in the flashback. Denji always wanted to live a normal life and Pochita is willing to give that to him, but Pochita wanted something in return and that was to show him the rest of the dream that Denji had. So, they made a deal. Pochita gave his heart to Denji which will infuse Pochita with Denji's body just in case something occurs. Once, they're infused Denji is completely healed and realizes that he has Pochita's spirit within him, the Zombie Devil tries to strike again but this time things take a turn. Denji comes back as the chainsaw man and start to take everybody out including the "Zombie Devil" itself and the next day some devil hunters from public safety come and offer to take Denji in. Overall, Ep. 1 will get a 4/5 because we're just getting into it and it was deep and a story of redemption itself because the way that Denji was living and dealing with his father was tough, but he was able to overcome that and redeem himself with the help from Pochita. The animation and the storytelling was done very well. As the series gets deeper, it's going to be fun, exciting, and wild. as we get to go on this journey with him and experience his story.
If you haven't seen Episode 1 of "Chainsaw Man" check it out and let me know how you feel about it. Also, let me know how do you feel about the animation too and does it hold up to the manga as well? Let's have a chill discussion about it.
