The NBA Family: Bigger Than Basketball

The NBA is full of exciting entertainment and great games for the whole family, but it is not about the games. The NBA is bigger than basketball because it's a family. As fans, we see teams come out support and help the community the best way that they can. For example, there can be a food drive or a Christmas gift shopping event, teams will come out and participate, plus even offer to buy the items for the person in need, Also, they can give tickets to a family for the next game. Another thing is that during an event like All-Star weekend, the Special Olympics will host a game for people with disabilities, and players will come out and either play or watch the game, either way, the support the league gives the fans is incredible.
The passion for the game of basketball really has an impact on everyone who loves the game. When I see the NBA Cares logo pop up, it just inspires me to do more and lets me know that the NBA really does care about its fans, and I love that. As a fan, when I see teams contribute to the community, it just makes me feel good that they can take the time out of their busy schedule to help and serve the people who are going through something. For instance, Gerald Green of the Houston Rockets took the time on social media to address Hurricane Harvey that happened in the fall. He explained that he will help the people of Texas get through that troubled time and by those who were affected by the hurricane, which he continues today.

The time and effort the league puts in is amazing with its community service and programs. It really gives another definition of motivation. With all the league has done and continue to do, it is truly a pleasure to see the NBA grow and give back any way possible like they have. The way I see it, This is a family. This is bigger than basketball. This is the NBA.
